Watch a Man Utd vs Liverpool live stream to see which of these Premier League giants can book their place in the last four of the FA Cup.

Last time these two met it ended in a goalless draw, and while the recent history of the fixture says to expect goals, Liverpool haven't quite been their usual free-scoring selves when faced with Premier League opposition lately. They only managed to score from the spot against Man City last time out, and it took a late winner from Darwin Núñez to secure a 1-0 win against Nottm Forest before that, but form tends to go out the window for big derby games — and this one's fairly massive.

The only consistent thing about Man Utd these days is their inconsistency. They went from going unbeaten in seven to losing two out of their last four, including a 3-1 defeat to Man City in which they were completely outclassed. Playing against a team with a clear identity really highlights the deficiencies in Erik ten Hag's side, and while their counter-attacking approach might suit knockout football, United's defense isn't the best and the away side have attacking reinforcements returning in the shape of Mo Salah.

Here's how the teams line up:

Man Utd XI: Onana (GK); Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Lindelof, Dalot; Mainoo, McTominay; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.

Liverpool XI: Kelleher (GK); Robertson, Quansah, Van Dijk, Gomez; Endo, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Diaz, Nunez, Salah.

The man who helped underpin much of Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp is returning to oversee the restructuring of the English club when the German manager leaves at the end of the season.

Michael Edwards, Liverpool’s former sporting director, will take up the role of “chief executive of football” at Fenway Sports Group — the U.S.-based conglomerate whose portfolio of sports teams includes Liverpool.

His tasks will include hiring a sporting director at Liverpool who will be responsible for identifying a replacement for Klopp, who said in January that he will be stepping down after nearly nine years as manager. Among those linked with the upcoming vacancy is Xabi Alonso, who currently coaches German league leader Bayer Leverkusen and used to play for Liverpool.

Edwards will also oversee FSG’s purchase of another soccer club, he said in a statement published by FSG, which also owns the Boston Red Sox.

Edwards left Liverpool in 2022 after an 11-year association with the team, which included time as sporting director from 2015-22 when he oversaw the signings of Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, and Virgil van Dijk. Klopp, who joined in late 2015, has led Liverpool to the Premier League and Champions League titles in that period, as well as multiple domestic cups.

Edwards has rejected numerous offers to return to soccer after leaving Liverpool and has been doing consultancy work with sports advisory firm Ludonautics. FSG said Edwards will no longer be working for Ludonautics.

Edwards replaces Gordon as FSG’s day-to-day decision maker on all soccer matters and said one of the biggest factors in agreeing to return was “the commitment to acquire and oversee an additional club, growing this area of their organization.

United face their bitter rivals in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon, with a semi-final at Wembley Stadium up for grabs for the winner. The Reds defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the fifth round to reach the last eight of the competition.

Erik ten Hag's side go into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League last weekend. Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty spot to secure the three points for United.

United's opponents, Liverpool go into the game having beaten Southampton in the fifth round. Jurgen Klopp's team also beat Sparta Prague 6-1 on Thursday night in the Europa League in their final game before this fixture.

Sunday's game against Liverpool is United's final fixture before the international break. After this, United will have a two-week break before returning to Premier League action against Brentford on March 30.

Old Trafford will be bouncing for a north-west derby that could keep Jurgen Klopp on course for a potential quadruple, if the Merseyside giants prevail.

With the German embarking on his farewell tour - which takes him back to Manchester for the final time next month - United would like nothing more than to ruin their rivals’ bid to end his era in perfect fashion.

Erik ten Hag guided his side to both domestic cup finals last season, although they were beaten by Manchester City in the FA Cup showpiece.

Man United remain in indifferent form, but come into this game off the back of a solid 2-0 win over struggling Everton, and could be boosted by the return of young Danish striker Rasmus Højlund, who is back in full training after missing the last three games through injury.

Great rivals Manchester United and Liverpool will meet in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup while Manchester City will continue its defense of the trophy with a home match against Newcastle.

As a result of reaching the quarter-final, United have seen their Premier League match against Sheffield United postponed. A date for the rearranged fixture is yet to be confirmed by the top flight.
